Biodiversity is the immense variety of all living things on Earth—including plants, animals, microorganisms and humans.

In this special for NPR's Climate Solutions Week, Bay City News journalist Ruth Dusseault talks with ecologist Josiah Clark about the conservation of ecosystems, and what it can teach us about diversity in human societies.

You can listen above to her interview with Clark in the field after a day's work restoring native ecosystems on Yerba Buena Island, and you can listen to her conversation below with KRCB's Noah Abrams, reflecting on her reporting.
